Lokta rope incense is the traditional incense of Hindus and Buddhists. It is used for offering worship and meditation. Leaves, spices and aromatic tree bark are blended together to create the scents. This mixture is then wrapped in Himalayan lokta rice paper.
To use, light the tip of the rope. Extinguish the flame by fanning. The rope will continue to glow and release the fragrance. Place safely in the rope incense burner or on a bed of sand in a bowl burner. Longer sticks can be cut in half to stand straight in the provided burner.

Fair Trade Nepali handmade paper making is an ancient traditional craft originating in the Himalayan mountains 2000 years ago. The daphne bush (lokta) used is found at an altitude between 6500 ft and 9500 ft and is harvested every two to three years. To keep the bush alive, the stem is pruned a foot from the ground allowing it to regrow.
