Tutsi Wedding Baskets
Rwanda Burunsi, Africa
Tutsi, Twa or Hutu excel in producing these handmade baskets, which have become symbols of the Tutsi culture. Grasses of these particular trees were soaked in water for almost two weeks, and then beaten with stones and dried. The range of the patterns, many that have their own names, are unlimited and shows the creativity of women from Rwanda and Burundi. These unique creations were presented as wedding gifts to a bride and groom.
We never see these - and currently have 5 in-stock on the showroom floor. 1 with a lid, and 4 in different patterns and variations in height. A stunning display in a grouping.
