A striking carved wood door attributed to the Songye people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, dating to the 19th to early 20th century.

The tall, sculptural panel centers on a carved female figure with her hands resting at her abdomen, surrounded by masks and intricate symmetrical carving. Wood, metal and bead details add texture and dimension to the surface, creating a remarkable example of Central African decorative and sculptural art.

At five feet tall, the door has a commanding architectural presence and can be displayed as a freestanding decorative object or used as large-scale wall art. Its rich patina, hand-carved surface and one-of-a-kind character make it particularly compelling in both contemporary and collected interiors.
